...moving that is, now the fun of unpacking and re-building everything starts. I need a vacation!

Having to come up with about 3 months of increased rent in short notice has put a hamper on buying new stuff for the new place, but next month I'll hopefully be able to catch up some.

Considering how fast things have gone, and are going, I can't complain much (except for the heat/humidity levels the past 2 weeks that have been exhausting to work in). Just 2 weeks from the day my old landlord told me he needed the apartment back to the day I move into the new place. Bonus was getting the rent knocked down enough to cover the electric bill because of my old landlord's affiliation with the new one (living there for 16 years helped things out) - and my boss giving me a raise to help cover the increase in rent didn't hurt either!

Sometimes things seem to just work out :-)

Apartment found, electric turned on, Cablevision scheduled to move my internet hookup, new landlord getting a FiOS DVR for me, and I'm exhausted already from packing/throwing out 16 years of accumulated crap..

Not a bad turn around considering it's only been 6 days since my landlord of the past 16 years told me he needed the apartment back. Amazing coincidence is that the first of only 2 responses I got to look at places this weekend was not only the one I ended up taking, but turned out to be a childhood friend of my landlord (they both got married together in Italy a few decades ago!). Having the endorsement of my soon to be ex-landlord gave me quite an edge with the new one, and the new place is so much better as well with more closet space than I have actual space now!

Somebody find me an apartment, haggle the rent, and move all my stuff for me please, I'm exhausted already...

Been 2.5 months of bank account draining "vacation" time.

Hurray for Netflix! :-p

Finally took my road test this morning and got my license back after over 7 years without one. Made a right turn, a left turn, parallel parked, made another right and the cute Asian girl that was in charge told me she was cutting the test short and we went beck to the site. She filled out some paperwork and commented how nice it was to have an an easy one for a change (referring to the test people, not me!), so I said "I guess that's a good thing?" and she smiled, said yes, and told me to keep the big yellow paper with me when I drive (until I get the new one in the mail) as she walked away.

My friend that lent me his car came over and asked it went OK, and if I realized how fast I was because everyone that went ahead of me was still out (at least 4 other cars/instructors). Sometimes it goes easy.

Now, can 5PM just get here soon so I can play Fallout 3!

Some days I really have to fight the urge to kill everyone I see. It take all of 10 minutes to get to work on bike, and this morning in that span of time some schmuck rolled through a stop sign and almost hit me, smiling the whole time like a fucking idiot, then another shit-fucker takes off from the curb without looking and almost side-swipes me.

Of course the third time is a charm - some cunt in a white Acura decides that driving with your head turned the opposite direction of travel is a good idea and fucking hits me as she decided to turn a corner while ignoring the law, right of way, and the screaming 220 pound man in front of her pounding on the hood of her car as she tries to knock him into traffic from behind.

Damn nice day today, so I spent some much needed time on the bike (I really packed on the 'layers' this winter).

Went to the local hardware store to get some needed plumbing stuff. Been here nearly 15 years and yet I never bothered going in. It felt like I stepped through some weird time vortex - turns out to be the kind of place you'd find in some small country town - totally cluttered and just simply cool. I gottta say, putting in a new shower head is almost like having a new shower - I've missed the water pressure! The stop broke on one of the faucet handles on the kitchen sink, so of course I bought the wrong type. Not a big deal, I just have to pay attention when turning it off because it'll spin back to full open otherwise.

Then I went and bought stuff for the animals - ended up dropping $80 on the friggin lizards, and spent half the day cleaning Spanky's tank and Spanky himself (who put up with being scrubbed in a sink with a toothbrush longer than I would :-p ). Bought him some new stuff to climb on and hide in, and a cool hollow rock for cricket feeding (he only gets live food, crickets and wax worms, a few times a year - he's mostly a vegetarian). Now if I could just figure a way to get him to eat all the crickets before they find holes to get out of and annoy me for the next week or two with their incessant chirping (which they've already started!)

Of course, after everything was clean and I took all the lizard stuff out of the tub, I had to spend another hour or two cleaning that (bleach really makes my eyes water).

The iguana's tank will get done tomorrow, I'm tired and an NCIS marathon is on.

- friend dropped by to get some White Castle
- other friend was supposed to have poker game - disappeared into the night
- finally beat that Bloons game
- having poker game tomorrow for my birthday
- smoking some Grey Havens in my Stanwell HCA Churchwarden
- no longer in that lucrative targeted marketing age group, I'm unwanted...
