.: Rock Hero's are morons :.

.: 09/23/08 :.
This pretty much sums it up:Paying $300 for Toy Drums, and Other Gaming Absurdities
A significant threshold is crossed when one purchases a $300 set of toy drums.

The boundary itself is a dark, unmentionable place. One does not simply walk into GameStop and purchase $300 toy drums. It is an act accomplished in privacy, while everyone and everything is asleep, including your common sense.

Once beyond the bound, you find yourself in another realm of video game fandom, granted access to an exclusive clubhouse reserved only for the truly pathetic.
Not to mention that pressing colored buttons in a sequence fed to you by your idiot box does not make you look or feel like you know how to play a musical instrument.

Major Launch Planned for the Winner of E3 2008’s “Best of Show”

August 20, 2008 (Rockville, MD) – Bethesda Softworks®, a ZeniMax Media company, announced today that its highly anticipated title, Fallout® 3, will be available on store shelves and online in North America on October 28, 2008 and in Europe on October 31, 2008. Developed at Bethesda Game Studios – creators of the 2006 Game of the Year, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion® – Fallout 3 is slated for release on the Xbox 360®video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, and Games for Windows.

“We are very excited to let gamers get their hands on Fallout 3, the latest chapter in this beloved and highly acclaimed franchise,” said Vlatko Andonov, president of Bethesda Softworks. “To meet the huge demand for this title by our fans worldwide, we are planning one of the biggest launches of any game released this year.”

Fallout 3 features one of the most realized game worlds ever created. Set more than 200 years following a nuclear war, you can create any kind of character you want and explore the open wastes of Washington, D.C. however you choose. Every minute is a fight for survival as you encounter Super Mutants, Ghouls, Raiders, and other dangers of the Wasteland.

Hailed as one of the most anticipated games for 2008, Fallout 3 has already won numerous awards including Best of Show from the official Game Critics Awards at E3 2008, a selection voted on by an independent group of journalists from 36 leading North American media outlets that cover the videogame industry.

How can you not love that Wasteland callback? I Should have my new TV in a few more weeks - I can't wait to play this on it!

2 months and counting, commencing pee-pee dance ;-)

.: SEGA Game Archive FTW! :.

.: 08/15/08 :.
The SEGA Game Archive

In a small unassuming area in the product development department is a room that contains some very special SEGA history. In this room is the SEGA archive and contains just about every game that’s come out on a SEGA console in the past and present, as well as a ton of extremely rare or strange peripherals. We stumbled upon the room when we were taking photos of the department post-move and made a point to come back for pictures so everyone can see all there is to see.

We asked around about how the room came together and couldn’t get a straight answer. Some had said our old legal department had run the archive and given it up to someone else to manage. Others said that the legal archive still exists in another room in the office, and this was pulled together over time from producers and product managers. We don’t know the exact how or why, but we love that it exists and immediately accessible.

SEGA Game Archive FTW!

What an awesome find that must have been - historic and fascinating in it's sheer awesomeness. Check out the full Flickr set for more high-res drool-inducing pics.

So you've been hanging out smoking racks of ribs all day and playing poker all night, and it's now 1 AM - what's next? Burgers on the BBQ of course!

Damn, that was one tasty Saturday! :-p

Diablo III is Official!!!!

YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! Man, what an exciting year for video games. Not only is Fallout 3 finally coming out (after moving to a new house and being completely remade from scratch), but the next installment of my most favorite game ever was officially announced today (well, yesterday technically).

Fallout 1 & 2 were arguably the most influential RPG games ever, and Bethesda has quite a reputation to live up to after acquiring the franchise's license - but Diablo is by the one video game company that actually has the golden touch when it comes to quality games and customer support. Blizzard even just reset the Online Ladder in Diablo 2 a few weeks ago - they've been supporting the game for 8 years, and it's still free to play online! There are tons of demo video over on the official Diablo III site - awesome 3D isometric view that you can zoom in and out of (similar to Dungeon siege), with kick-ass graphics and awesome effects.

Man, I can't wait to play a Witch Doctor! I'm hoping that since I was part of the early and later Diablo II L.O.D beta testing that I have a slight edge in getting into the beta for this - nothing better than playing a game you love months before most other people :p (and I still play the game to this day - and have several licenses for it!)

.: They took SciFi from me! :.

.: 06/03/08 :.
Cablevision flipped SciFi over to SDV (Switched Digital Video) early this morning, and I ended up recording nearly 12 hours of a black screen saying the channel is no longer available without a digital box. So I reset the tuner in my DVDR, and sure enough it's not available on QAM. Dammit. So I'm getting the Scientific Atlanta 8300HD DVR through my landlord, and I'm gonna have to give him the extra $20 a month with my rent. At least I'll have a DVR capable of recording in HD for when I get my new TV in a few months (of course my bed broke and now I need to replace that before getting the TV...)

And I was looking forward to watching 8 hours of Dark Angel when I got home today...

.: Year of the Rat != Good Luck :.

.: 02/10/08 :.
Wow, I really got my ass handed to me last night in the cash games (not to mention the main tourny, but at least I was far from first out). Negated my poker winnings from last month by quite a bit. You'd think that being the sober guy driving people around that I'd at least get some good Karma (well I was up $180 at one point, but still...)
